Search & selection

Scarce talent requires a different approach

about search & selection

Search & selection is for organisations hiring specialist, junior manager or senior individual-contributor roles.

To us, the best recruiting happens when we start with the outcome, rather than just your requirements. What's your ambition? Your expectations? Are you looking for someone who's just great at their job, or someone who can grow with you – and maybe grow into another role down the line?

You won't find the answers to your questions in a stack of CVs received on the back of a dusty, generic job ad. But you will find them through our rigorous headhunting process, executed by our domain expert consultants.

how the process unfolds and the milestones along the way

Every recruitment process follows our defined delivery model, with the same milestones.

#01
The contract is signed, the terms are in place.
When we agree on the big picture and the contract is signed, our delivery team will start their work: finding a consultant, nailing the details and logistics.
#02
Matching a consultant to your assignment
We activate our network and the market immediately, and we present the right consultant to run your recruitment within 7 days.
#03
Kick-off: Requirement workshop
We're keen to get going, so we'll book a requirement workshop as soon as the consultant is on board. Here you'll collaborate with your consultant on how to approach the assignment and who the ideal candidate is.
#04
Day 10: Longlist
Your consultant will present a longlist 10 days after the workshop, where you'll get a broad, but qualified, pool of candidates to assess.
#05
Day 20: Shortlist
We'll refine the quality of your longlist, based on your feedback, and present five qualified candidates with structured interview notes and insights.
#06
2nd round interviews
We run second-round interviews together with you, with optional casework and assessments. We'll evaluate the candidates together, to provide you with the best and most nuanced basis for your decision.
#07
Offer management
Your consultant can handle the entire contract negotiation, including references, offer negotiation and terms, if desired.

Great results aren't only dependent on the search process itself, but the before and after. Requirement workshop, market mapping, candidate engagement, assessments. And of course, a clear communication cadence.

what you get

A better understanding

An important part of our process is creating clarity and a feasible plan, based on your wants, your requirements, your offering and what's actually available in the market.

Inherent quality assurance

What we offer is a methodology. To guarantee it, a dedicated contact from our internal delivery team will oversee each recruitment, ensuring that the methodology is followed and lives up to your expectations.

Decision-grade documentation

A record of the search process, decision criteria, market findings and engagement history. For audit, compliance, or simply the next time we have to find you the perfect candidate.

A repeatable process

Our methodology ensures repeatable outcomes. We're not making ad hoc decisions or making things up as we go. You'll get the same experience and results each time.

Questions?
We have the answers.

How long does a search & selection process take?

Most of our search & selection processes deliver a longlist by day 10 and a shortlist by day 20 from kick-off. The clock assumes timely feedback from your side — typically within two business days on scorecards and shortlists. If the role changes mid-process, we recalibrate without restarting the engagement. Ultimately, most processes take 8 weeks from a signed statement of work to a signed contract with your next employee.

How is this different from executive search?

Executive search is built for senior leadership roles where stakeholder alignment and cultural match are part of the deliverable — extensive target mapping, structured workshops, longer timelines. Search & selection is for the specialists, managers and senior individual contributors below senior management level.

Who actually runs the search?

A consultant from our network, selected for domain expertise in your sector and seniority match to the role. They work through Spitze's playbooks, not their own methodology — and our delivery team owns the quality assurance throughout. From your side, you have one point of contact at Spitze accountable for the outcome.

What if the candidate doesn't work out after they start?

Every placement comes with a replacement guarantee. If a candidate leaves or is let go within the agreed period, we re-run the search to the same scope and standard. The clock on a replacement doesn't restart from zero — we already have the market mapped.

Do you work on no-cure, no-pay terms?

No. Search & selection is delivered on a milestone-based retainer. That's what allows us to commit to the timeline, hold the documented cadence and keep candidate engagement disciplined rather than rushed.
