What’s the difference between an interim employee and a temporary worker or contractor?

Granted, formally the difference is subtle, but effectively it’s quite substantial. A temp worker will often be used to fill a tangible, operational need. A contractor will deliver on a delimited ‘scope of work’. And an interim specialist or leader is employed to provide impact in transformational phases or changes – i.e. a more intangible scope, like turnarounds, expansion or gap management.

How quickly can an interim consultant start?

Once a statement of work is signed, we match you with a consultant within 7 days and have them onboarded and operational within 15. The cadence holds whether you need a TA lead, an HRBP or a specialist in another function.

How long are your typical interim engagements?

Most engagements run between three and twelve months, scoped to the underlying need — covering an absence, leading a transformation, or bridging to a permanent hire. Scope and end date are defined in the statement of work and reviewed at agreed checkpoints.

Who employs the consultant during the engagement?

Our consultants are independent and contract through Spitze, so you have a single commercial relationship with us — not with the individual. That keeps compliance, invoicing and accountability in one place, while giving you a senior practitioner embedded inside your team.

What if the consultant isn’t the right fit?

If the match isn’t working, we replace the consultant — without restarting the engagement or the clock on your deliverables. Fit is assessed at the agreed checkpoints, and our delivery team stays close to the engagement throughout so issues surface early.

Can an interim consultant convert into a permanent hire?

Yes. Where it makes sense for both sides, an interim engagement can convert into a permanent placement under transparent commercial terms agreed up front. It’s a natural path when an interim leader proves to be the long-term answer rather than a bridge to one.
